Wii Michael Jackson The Experience

The Wii Platform just has to be the best for dance games in my opinion. At the moment Wii Zumba Fitness is my favorite, but that as before Michael Jackson arrived on the Wii! In fact, at the risk making you all very sick, they fit like a hand in a beautifully sequined glove, a very cheap looking version of which you get with the game :>)

The disclaimer to not wear the glove while playing made me really laugh. Initially I thought it was a bit of fun, but but I guess wearing a glove makes it far easier for that remote to fly out of your hand  and damage something...not that the glove comes anywhere near to fitting someone my size...but I digress.

What about the game itself. The King of Pop in gameland and it really does fit so perfectly well! I don;t think anyone would argue that MJ was one of the music industry's most innovative artists of all time. His music but also his amazing dance routines were totally new and different at the time. And both work so very well on the Wii platform.

It's almost unerring, it's a marriage made in heaven, it really is!

I think one of the major acid texts for a game is how easy is for you to actually get involved and playing at a reasonable level. With Wii Michael Jackson The Experience you will be dancing and singing along with MJ himself very quickly and I like that.

Sadly the Michael himself is not in the game, as you would epxect. However the makers have ben vry sensitive to Michael's legacy and Wii Michael Jackson The Experience is very true to his spirit which just pours out from every track.

Clearly the makers have used top dancers used to replicate MJ's moves and in my opinion, what you see on the screen and the moves you end up making truly capture the Michael Jackson spirit.

The faces of the Dancer's are washed out in the graphics, but, once you're caught up in game play you don't notice and it's easy to feel and believe you're up there on stage with Michael dancing and singing along. I really love the attention to detail the makers have put in to Wii Michael Jackson The Experience. A huge vote of thanks to UBI Soft on for that. The costumes and makeup are spot on and are clearly inspired by what MJ actually wore in his videos and on stage.

The entire exprience is so absolutely, esswentially Michael Jackson, from his amazing songs to his epic videos, everything is completely right and I am sure Michael himself would have approved - big time! I don;t think there are many other artists (alive or dead) who have enough true quality material to bring offer a game of such quality. This really brings together a unique mix of music and dance that is very distinct, and very definitely MJ. In fact it requires a heady mix such as this to allow a game like this to be made. I guess that's the very reason there is nothing else like this in the game market. To proiduce a quality dance and music game requires something unique and few artists offer anything that comes close.

It's certainly true that Michael's dance moves have now become permanently ingrained in our culture, you the see them everywhere nowadays. On talent shows to club dance floors across the globe. Spins, moonwalks (a word invented on the back of the now iconic dance move I believe) and many other MJ moves are now seen and enjoyed by millions of people young and slightly older. I have no doubt that Wii Michael Jackson The Experience will add to MJ's influence and fan base, particularly amongst young gamers.

Of course, playing a game of this nature also gives you a real workout as well, so you can get fitter as you have fun. I always find having fun helps take the pain of exercise away!

All the moves are planned out well, easy to understand and learn, so the it doesn't take long to get into the game and to be playing effectively. Again, I like games that you can get into quickly. MJ The Experience on Wii will have you dancing around singing along very quickly indeed!

Up to 4 people can play with a basic Wii remote, which I think is great and good value. You can see the images along the left side of the screen this allows you to cue your moves, and you also get a points tally which ticks over as you complete dance moves correctly .

To be honest you'll get points for simply moving around, but the better and more accurately you execute the moves...the more points you get, with bonus points for precision and accuracy. At the end of each song, all points are converted into stars, and at certain star levels you're given access to further "practice" videos.

Overall, Wii Michael Jackson the Experience is just a brilliant dance and music game that really does caputre the essence of what Michael Jackson was all about. If you're a MJ fan and love his music and dance, then quite simply you'll love this game. But, in my opinion, it's also great fun for the casual fan as well. It's fun, exciting,  alittle bit emotional for MJ's true fans and exhausting after two or three routines. as we all know Michael was about to go on tour when, sadly, he lost his life. These are tough dance routines and he must have still been very fit to contemplate taking a show like this on a long tour...It really is sad that those shows never got to his fans! Perhaps in some small way Wii Michael Jackson The  Experience can help make up for that and help us remember Michael after his sad loss?

Wii Golden Eye 007

Wii Golden Eye 007

Bond is back after being one of the first and most influential first person shooter games ever, and finally Bond has made his way to Wii with GoldenEye 007.

Recongised as being ome of the best first person shooter games of early consoles many games have tried to emulate this classic, but now here's the official remake. Even though the basic design of the original game is kept it is no standard remake! Every element of the design and graphics have been revamped to suit the modern age, including bringing the cast up to date with Daniel Craig as Bond.

As soon as the first screen of play opens up on this game memories of the original on Nintendo 64 come flooding back, with even more surprises and guess work required while still managing to retain the unique mix of action, stealth and world-beating design that only agent 007 can bring.

Remembering again the revolutionary multiplayer mode of the original with its four-player splitscreen, hoping they didn't change that, it was of course still there and playing better than ever and to go one step further there is an eight-player mode online.

The mission is to stop the renegade 00 agent Janus, returning to such iconic scenes as Arkhangelsk, Monte Carlo and St. Petersburg. Wii GoldenEye 007 is the perfect game to recapture the magic of the past or exsprience Bond in gaming for the first time. A young cousin was really sceptical about playing a Bond game and was convinced that it would be "wet". However, after just a few minutes of play...he was completely sold and that is one of the best testimonials I've had for Wii Golden Eye 007!

Key Features

This is the best Bond game ever and the most loved first person shooter games of all time is returning with a host of vry cool new features. Two of the best are:-

Thunderball - ground-breaking single-player mode return in a way I never imagined, I has new story elements, new moves and some of the best graphics I've seen on the Wii.

Screen Giants - The classic four-player splitscreen multiplayer returns with all your favourite, levels, weapons and classic Bond villains such as Odd Job (remember the hat?) and Jaws.

Great first person shooter action with some amazing twists and turns and no few surprises. Works extremely well on the Wii and definitely needs to be on your Christmas list this one!

Wii Call of Duty Black Ops

Call of Duty is without doubt the most popular first-person shooter game around. So the new release of the Wii Call of Duty Black Ops there was a big reputation to keep up with! And, in my opinion Wii Call of Duty Black Ops does not disappoint!

Black Ops takes you back and deep in to the Cold War aera. It's murky history and secretive ops as you are transported into most some of the most dangerous and vicious conflict zones of the late 60s. In the new Call of Duty Black Ops on Wii you are in the jungles of Vietnam or the ice-bound wastes of the Ural mountains. You're in charge as you take your your team deep behind enemy lines where you fight along side the elite special forces unit of the Black Ops and engage in  convert warfare. What makes Wii Call of Duty Black Ops even more interssting is the confines of the 1960's weaponry.

However, you can call in air support such as the SR-71 or Blackbird stealth plane. Deadly attack helicopters and armoured personnel carriers are also at your disposal.

You take part in classified, covert operations and explosive conflicts all around the globe.

Despite the confines of the technology you do get exclusive weaponry and equipment and through your actions and Ops you can change the balance of power during one of the world's most dangerous periods. Like all the other Call of Duty games, Black Ops on Wii sets the standard of multiplayer, with new enhanced customisation tools, playable vehicles and a new revamped scoring system - which I think is far better than previous versions.

The new Unique 4 play co-op mode for Black Ops on Wii allows you to explore some of the more mysterious theater of the war in fascinating new detail. The storyboard of the new Call of Duty is definitely up to the high standard of past Call of Duty games, gripping and entertaining and edge of the seat stuff. This release also boasts more realistic sounds and  outstanding voice acting mean you can really believe what you are playing. The maps on this new game are better and easier to read and follow.

One thing that was a real plus was that there is virtually no lag (which we all know is the worst bit about multiplayer), even when playing against distant places. I also like the wager feature and unlocks/perks are well implemented and the killstreaks are very nicely balanced.

For a bit of fun the Zombie mode is a laugh and should not be taken too seriously...but it's good for a change ocassionally, especially if you just you want to let rip and do loads of shooting.

The graphics and sound are superb and the controls are perfect, they are much more smoother, targeting and tracking is simple and the whole game is very responsive.

Key Features

Retro Warfare - explore some of the myths of the Cold War...are they true or just myth? Your team of Black Ops is caught up in the fight against communism in Vietnam and beyond.

Ammu-Nation - Use new special ammo including an incredible explosive crossbow. Also use "Dragon's Breath" flame rounds from your shotgun as well as a range of other cold war weapons.

Twisted Metal - I love this! Take the controls of the iconic SR-71 Blackbird as you direct operations from high above or jump into an attack chopper in Vietnam for some close-up action.

Online Perks - This is so cool! You can "Create-a-Class 2.0" customisation tool. With it you can actually personalise your online battles even more. there are new perks available and revamped (and very cool) rules for killstreaks.

Team Player - go online with 4 player co-op mode and team up to take down the might Soviet military machine, who needs a peaceful revolution, eh?

Wii Call of Duty Black Ops has everything all the previous Call of Duty's had and more including better multiplayer action.I have always been a fan of the Call of Duty franchise and will continue with the release of Black Ops for Wii. After just a few minutes of playing this game I knew it would be another classic. If you're a COD fan, this is adefinite BUY! Definitley get yourself a copy of Wii Call of Duty Black Ops.

Wii Sims 3

Wii Sims 3

EA have finaly created a version of the fun family game for the Wii and now with multi-player options, it takes the Sims to a new level. Of ocurse you can still create any character you want, choose their looks and prsonality, make them as unique as you like but Sims 3 on Wii is different. If you're an experienced PC player you'll need to think again if you cross over to Sims 3 on the Wii.

I was really surprised to find people dissing the game in forums and in some reviews. But the thing all the bad reviews had in common was that they had failed to really dig into this version of Sims to see what made it tick. You have to work at Sims 3 Wii, but If you are prepared to do that, the rewards are outstanding and you reveal a multi layered game of subtely and technique with lots of new functionality and fun.

As with all previous versions of the Sims you can make what you want of your Sims! Evil, paranoid, romantic, or whatever! You’re the one in control of your Sims' destiny, and it's up to you whether those inner most dreams come true or they vanish in a puff of despair. Make your Sims global rock stars, world leaders, or expert thieves? This is the traditonal fun that millions of Sims fans have come to know and love.

One of the great new things in Wii Sims 3 is the "all-new" Karma Power. This gives you the ability to give your Sim everything, or take it away. It's a powerful tool that can bring love, ultimate beauty, money, power...or it can take it all away. You can even control the weather, or worse still send your Sim to the Grim Reaper, but be oh so careful with this power!

The new Wii Sims 3 allows for multiplayer mode so you can play Wii Sims 3 with your friends in the new co-op mode. But be careful bacuse your frieds may help you, but they may just hold you back as well! Multi-player allows for up to four players in the Life Moments Game where you can all earn rewards.

New Content!

Wii Sims 3 Beach Town, new charaters and features!
I really like the new Beach Town area. with lots of new residents, traits, careers, weather, and lifetime wishes and this is exclusive for the Wii Sims 3.  Is Beach Town Home and Away? Well, now Sims has arrived on the Wii there are certainly even more options to help create your own interactive soap opera, while you either pamper or torment the people in your very own virtual Beach Coomunity.

As I said The Sims 3 on Wii lets you create your own character with unique personality, desires and life goals - and I really liked the new mini-challenges like trying to get your first kiss or find your best friend for life.

There are also great new and very powerful tools to customise your Sim, the homes they live in (new pre fab quick build is fun) and fill the city with your own creations. You can even go online and choose from a huge library of downloadable new objects and designs from other players and you can share your own Sims with other fans.

Also while guiding your Sim though your world you can unlock addictional items, new buildings and landmarks. As previously there are many adventure quests in the game too. For example you can challenge your Sim to explore their town and find hidden secrets.

Key Features

Simsville has all the features from the PC games and lots more as well. Plus the graphics on Wii and online communities are really excellent.

Create-a-Sim - Create and mould your own Sims exactly as you want, even down to facial features and clothing preferences to personality types and setting life goals.

Karma Chameleon is a really fun new "Power". Karma Power can either give your Sim a helping hand with power ups such as 'instant beauty'(not fair it is?), 'get lucky', 'love connector' and 'age definer'... or you can punish your Sim with 'epic fails', 'alien abductions' or as I said earlier set the Grim Reaper onto them…however, beware use this new power wisely! This has become a theme in gaming recently to allow huge power but...to also have unexpected results of such use - you have been warned!

Build and Share -  This is great. Join the online Sims community you can download items and Sims' other people have created as well as upload your own creations and share them with fans around the world. This is an amazing new feature that is sure to expand the horizons of Wii Sims 3 far beyond anything seen in Sims before. This is what I mean about new dimensions in Wii Sims 3 and why I can't understand the odd negative review that's around?

Format Specific - This is another great innovation that allows your friends to know what you’re doing on Facebook using the new direction control method on Wii.

To conclude, I think experienced Sims players felt they should just be able to pick up Wii Sims 3 and play at the same level they have been used to, but Wii Sims 3 does need a bit of exploration even for experienced Sims players. So, don't be put off by any bad reviews you do see because if you put the effort in you are really rewarded with an outstanding new variation on the Sims theme. yes, it did take a bit of time to get used to and dig in to, but it was well worth it once I'd worked out the new dimensions of Wii Sims 3. Now I really love this version of Sims and you will too!

Wii Red Console Special Mario Edition

As the Coke advert says "holidays are coming" and can't you tell it from the number of game releases on  the horizon.

Yes, this is the time of year that the gaming market goes into overdrive as we all fight for the amazing new games that come out for Christmas. And don't we all just love to cram around the Wii on Christmas afternoon and maybe work off the huge amounts of food with something like Wii Zumba Fitness or Wii Party?
I'll write on the most interesting game releases for the holiday season in the next few days, but there is one release that really catches the eye.

What is it? One of the most interesting releases is the new Red Wii Console Bundle! Red Wii Consoles? Whatever next?

Well, it is a special occasion I guess. And, the special occassion is....well, it's Mario's 25th birthday! Amazing isn't it?

Yes it's 25 years since Nintendo launched Mario and his friends on us way back in 1985. Yes, that's when a very pixelated Mario first jumped onto our screens. No sharp graphics like we have today, it was all very pixelated line drawings, that was as good as it got in those days.

So, what's this Red Wii Console Hardware and Game bundle all about? As I said it's about Mario's 25th anniversary and to celebrate Nintendo have released a "Mario Red" console, that comes with a "Mario Red" Controller and Nunchuk as well. It's the first time Nintendo have moved away from the standrad white or black consoles, but...for Mario (which has probably been one of their biggest profit spinners), you can understand all the pomp!

For my money, this is a must for Super Mario Bros fans. And as it's an anniversary special edition it is a limited release, so if you are interested I suggest you get in and buy as quickly as you can. Officially released on 7th of November (2010) it is only due to run for the holiday season - so expect withdrawl of the Red Wii Console and Mario Bundle in early 2011.

Not only do you get the Red Wii Console and controllers you also get three top notch games pre-loaded.

Wii Zumba Fitness

Wii Zumba Fitness

Zumba is dance, Zumba is exercise, Zumba is fun and Zumba is craze that is sweeping the fitness world. A combination of latin rhythms coupled with a samba style exercise routine Zumba is definitely the latest craze in the "get fit" market. And it's easy to see why because it's such fun. you'll find that you get totally wrapped up in the music  and consequently you forget you're doing pretty tough exercise!

So, Zumba get's you fit while you enjoy dancing energetically to those seductive latin rhythms!

But...Now you can do Zumba on your Wii, with Wii Zumba Fitness...great fun and fitness all the comfort and convenience of your very own home! What more could you want?

Wii Zumba Fitness (from Majesco Entertainment) is released to the world on 18th NOvember 2010, good holiday season timing! So, as the global phenomenen of Zumba continues to gather pace, the games world as pretty quick to catch up, as I say, in plenty of time for the holiday season (obviously)! However, if you look at the huge success Zumba has generated around the world (currently 6 million particpants across the globe and new classes every day), it's not surprising that Majesco have "gone for it" and developed Wii Zumba Fitness. I guess it was a no-brainer given the huge success other dance games such as Just Dance 2 and Michael Jackson The Experience and I can only see Wii Zumba Fitness following suit and being a huge success.

And there's no doubt it's a great game...fun and fitness at the same time, I predict it's going to be a BIG winner! So a quick overview of Wii Zumba Fitness. Yes it's a dancing program but a dancing program with a diffrence. All of the featured music is of Latin origin, so music like samba, lambada, salsa, cha cha etc. However the "twist" is that Zumba mixes these traditional latin moves with some moves from street dance. Mix this all together add a pulsating rhythm and you have a hypnotic mix - you just have to move to the beat!

So, why do I think this is going to be such a massive hit? Well, I don't think that generally people really like to
exercise, yes they do it, but it's hard work when all is said and done! But Wii Zumba Fitness makes it brilliant fun!

All that dancing is definitely hard work, you get a really good sweat on and the heart is pumping, but for some reason you just don't exprience the pain of solitary exercise. I'm sure you've been on the treadmill or the bike, rower and eally pushed yourslef hard - it hurts! But with Wii Zumba Fitness the pain just melts away! Probably because the music and movement produce an incredible natural high that seems to take away the pain of the exercise "burn". So, it's enjoyable to exercise and burn that fat at the same time!

I have no doubt this is why Zumba is so hugely popular and growing by the day. And now you can enjoy the same exprience in your living room with Wii Zumba Fitness.

So, what about the game? The on-screen dancer shows you all the Zumba moves and teaches you as you go along. All you do is follow her and once you have got your initial moves right more moves are introduced. These gradually get tougher and more technical until you have all the moves needed to complete a routine.

Your moves are "monitotred" by the Wii Sensor and are highlighted by a color coding on the screen mistakes are highlighted  by a red or orange light.

What I really liked about Wii Zumba Fitmess is that some of the routines included are unique to the game. For me that suggests that the makers have taken a lot of trouble to build this game! It would have been very easy to stick to the moves used in most classes, but I really like what they've done with this. It makes it unique and different.

Wii Zumba Fitness also includes the now traditional multi player mode and it's great fun to learn and progress, and get fit, with your partner. You can, of course, make it competitive if you wish, but hey we're talking fitness fun here not a fight!

Scheduled for release on November 18th. Get Wii Zumba Fitness and have FUN burning off all that holiday excess!
